If you want to experience a real explosion of flavours this bonfire night, hot foot it to The Royal Horseguards Hotel and try a delicious Fawkes- inspired afternoon tea. It's the perfect spot to while away a chilly November day, with it's location just moments away from the spot where the original gunpowder plot was foiled over 400 years ago
The tea begins with a hot chocolate shot and ‘toast your own’ marshmallows, served complete with tea-lights for toasting. Then follows a selection of TNT exploding white chocolate and chilli ganache truffles, Gunpowder tea infused macaroons, a scrumptious roasted chestnut cupcake with lightly fried parsnip crisp; Last but not least yummy mini toffee apple lollies which garnish a mulled wine jelly with cinnamon cream.
The Bonfire Night Tea at The Royal Horseguards, London is £28 per person and is available from 1st – 7th November. To book call 0871 376 9033.

You may have noticed that the Dormouse team appear to have taken a bit of a sabbatical of late. Well we have been to the big smoke, to the bright lights of London to refresh and inspire us. We have shopped till we have dropped, tasted the teas and we are now back to tell all... in pictures... well they say they're worth a thousand words!
Dormouse and The Teapot's exploration into the world of tea, sometimes takes them to some strange and wonderful worlds into which they might not otherwise wander.
There has been a recent surge in interest in the theatrical; in vaudeville, burlesque and cabaret. The credit crunch has seen a rise in fascination in old-fashioned glamour, the 1940's, lipstick, powder and paint.
Alongside this a new genre of events has arisen, marrying performance with the age old ritual of taking tea - which of course never goes out of fashion- who knew Earl Grey could be so glamorous!
Heres just a sample...

As you no doubt know by now, here at Dormouse we just love cupcakes! This very American staple is the centrepiece of our celebratory afternoon teas. Small ones, large ones if they are pretty and smothered in sparkles and sprinkles, well... we are happy bunnies!
Nothing do we like more than eating lovely cupcakes than reading about them and on our recent trawl through cyberspace we stumbled across London bakers Crumbs and Doilies and their fantastic blog http://www.crumbsanddoilies.blogspot.co.uk/ Penned by Ken it is a rainbow journey through every shade of cupcakery and design.
Oh and if you are in London you can buy them too http://www.crumbsanddoilies.co.uk/ (how could you resist!) Sadly we are not near enough to sample them but we would love to hear your reviews!
