Generally speaking the Dormouse Team love living in the north, it's not all flat caps and whippets you know, but then again flat caps and whippets what's not to like?
If you are based in the Oldham area and are looking for someone to make you some lovely cupcakes - Emma Bakes Cupcakes is the perfect celebration solution.
We were lucky enough to try her delicious cakes as part of a fundraiser for British Red Cross Japan appeal. They were gorgeous; nice and light, not too sweet, just right really.
Emma makes cakes in a wide range of flavours from the usual vanilla, chocolate and lemon to the unusual French toast, lavender and strawberry polenta. She has a wide range of toppings and cases to choose from so can work with you to produce your heart's desire.

Dormouse and The Teapot are really lucky to have a fabulous new cupcakery open up on our very doorstep.
A Spoonfull of Sugar is based in Saddleworth in the village of Uppermill and offers amazing a range of delicious cakes served in a lovely romantic vintage setting. You can sit and watch the cakes being baked fresh while you sip a nice cup of tea or take some away for an afternoon tea at home. They also take orders for weddings and other special celebrations.
So far we have tried strawberries and cream, raspberry and white chocolate, Oreo cookie and last but not least the 99 (which resembles an old fashioned ice cream cornet). All the flavours are amongst the best we have tasted.
Yum!
Visit A Spoonfull of Sugar here Or you can pop into the shop, 39 High Street, Uppermil OL3 6HS, which is open between 10:30am and 5:30pm Wednesday - Sundays.

The Deeply Darkly Divine range of cakes are all inspired by and use the 85% dark chocolate bar, think beetroot brownies, choclate pots and fudge cake and last but not least Lily's sumptious cup cakes.
These include:
- Double chocolate expresso with fresh raspberries
- White chocolate chip with vanilla white chocolate frosting
- Cocoa red velvet with rich chocolate and vanilla cream cheese
- Triple chocolate brownies
As you no doubt know by now, here at Dormouse we just love cupcakes! This very American staple is the centrepiece of our celebratory afternoon teas. Small ones, large ones if they are pretty and smothered in sparkles and sprinkles, well... we are happy bunnies!
Nothing do we like more than eating lovely cupcakes than reading about them and on our recent trawl through cyberspace we stumbled across London bakers Crumbs and Doilies and their fantastic blog http://www.crumbsanddoilies.blogspot.co.uk/ Penned by Ken it is a rainbow journey through every shade of cupcakery and design.
Oh and if you are in London you can buy them too http://www.crumbsanddoilies.co.uk/ (how could you resist!) Sadly we are not near enough to sample them but we would love to hear your reviews!
Dormouse and the gang simply love cup cakes. Whether they are served as part of gorgeous afternoon tea or just simply to accompany a cup of Earl Grey, they are always welcome on our plates!
