Bringing comfort and spice to a kitchen near you

As anyone who loves food and enjoys writing about food will tell you, it is a dream to write and have a cookery book published. As food bloggers we taste a little of this dream, we write and we are read (hopefully) but it's not quite the same as being in print.

So when we hear of one of our own kind, a blogger, publishing a book a real one with paper and pages this is received with a sense of joy and celebration.

Niamh Shields from Eat Like A Girl (and one of my favourite food writers), has done just that.  Comfort & Spice (Quadrille) is a book to enjoy.  To sit in the kitchen and splatter when cooking, to turn to in times when you need inspiration, and if like me you live for cookery books, to sit and read by the fire on quiet wet days.

There is something in there for all tastebuds, the recipes are generous and make you want to rush to the kitchen and start cooking. From brunches to speedy suppers this is food for real life.  There are lots of ideas of delicious treats to make with leftovers which everyone adores and which is a boon for busy lives. Learn how to make cheese, butter, or use edible flowers, Niamh shows you how.

My kitchen my be like a war zone at present, but my heart is still in there, and my head is filled with dreams of Niamh's Piri Piri chicken; which will be the christening of my new oven.

Comfort & Spice (Quadrille) RRP £14.99 is available from all good bookshops.

We received a copy of this book free of charge to review.
